MG Tower

MG (for mid-grade)Tower was built during WWII to handle increased traffic moving through the line in both directions.The tower closed in 1978 and has sat quite ever since. It has survived a better fate than the Pennsy era signal bridge, which was removed in 2019. Two sets of SD40E Helper locomtives are pictured; one pushing an intermodal up the hill and the other, returing light to Altoona.
